Premier League

THETFORD 1 BROADLAND 1

With both teams unable to get a firm stick on the final ball and with opportunities few and far between the game looked destined for a draw. It was some relief for Thetford that Dawn Heavey put them ahead with 90 seconds to go, her penalty corner strike being deflected off a defenders stick high into the Broadland goal. What was more surprising is that Broadland response was almost instantaneous and equalised 15 seconds from the end when Tracey Buxtons miscued penalty corner strike deceived the keeper and bounced over her outstretched foot.

Division 2

BROADLAND II 2 SPROWSTON II 2

Sprowston took the advantage of hesitancy in the Broadland back line to take an early lead when Julie Metcalf fired the ball in across the keepers body. Broadlands reply was not long in coming, Becky Savourys perfect penalty corner being fired home with great pace and accuracy. Sprowston regained the lead with the last action of the half, when the alert Julie Metcalf intercepted a miscued 16 yard hit and rifled the ball into the Broadland goal. Broadland stepped up a gear in the second half and started to work the ball from defence to attack. A Carolyn Duthie defence splitting pass midway through the second half created all the time in the world for Danni Parke to place the ball under the exposed visitors keeper for Broadlands well deserved equaliser.

Premier League

EVERGREENS 2 BROADLAND 1

With both sides fielding weakened teams it was Broadland who were most affected by the absence of key players in the central spine of their team as Evergreens dominated the early period of play. Evergreens went ahead when a hard cross was deflected in giving the Broadland keeper no chance.

Broadland responded well and pressurized the Evergreens defence for the remainder of the half, but in spite of numerous penalty corners and attempts from open play, failed to get shots on target.

Evergreens nearly scored from their first penalty corner of the game immediately after the break but it was Broadland who continuing to force the pace equalising through captain Rachel Aldous, who confidently dispatched a penalty stroke, after a foot and then body on the line had prevented a certain goal being scored. With both sides looking for another goal the game became stretched but it was Evergreens who took the points in somewhat controversial circumstances when they were awarded a penalty corner seconds from the end, when a Broadland defender had been deemed to be interfering with play by not retreating 5 metres from a free hit.

Division 2

EVERGREENS II 0 BROADLAND II 4

Slick passing and great team work from Broadlands II saw them through against Evergreens II at Holt.  Nikki Richards put them ahead and Nikki Baker fired home a penalty corner to give them the lead at half time. Carolyn Duthie increased Broadlands lead finishing of a well worked move, before Martina Rothe jinked in the ball by the post for her first goal of the season.

Premier League

BROADLAND 6 HARLESTON MAGPIES III 2

The Norfolk Premier clash between unbeaten Harleston Magpies and the in form Broadland saw a thrilling encounter with both sides playing fast and skilful hockey with great commitment. Tracey Buxton, Broadland's leading scorer who put them in front, after Broadland had resisted an period of early pressure from a young Magpies side. Lindsay Hyde put Broadland further ahead with a classical penalty corner strike, before Magpies Holly Barber was allowed to advance into the circle, her clean strike coming off the near post and into the side netting to pull a goal back for the visitors. Energetic Broadland with their tails up high continued to pressurized and panic the Magpies defence and were further ahead when Tracey Buxton's hard cross from the right hand by-line was despatched by Kelly Duthie into the roof of the net for what could arguably be seen as the best goal of the game. Holly Barber popped up again to peg Broadland back with a cool finish as Harleston fought to stay in the contest. Tracey Buxton, however, had other ideas, first tapping in a deflected clearance, and then following another goal from the strong running Lindsay Hyde, finished of a satisfying day for Broadland by hammering the ball through the keepers legs to complete her hat trick.

Division 2

BROADLAND II 3 HARLESTON MAGPIES V  5

Harleston Magpies put Broadland II's under considerable pressure right from the start of this mid-table division 2 fixture. Somewhat against the run of play Broadland broke through the visitors defence with Danni Parke's vicious strike giving the Magpies keeper no chance. Danni Parke put Broadland further ahead in similar circumstances minutes later as Broadland again carved through the stretched Harleston defence. Keira Booty pulled a goal back for Harleston before Elizabeth Jones levelled the scores just before the break. With all to play for in the second period and with Harleston continuing to pressurise the Broadland goal it was not surprising that Fiona McKensie put Harleston ahead within minutes of the restart. Danni Parke completed her hat trick for Broadland with another great effort but as Broadland tired Fiona McKensie scored again for Harleston and with their increasing grip on the game Harleston ran out comfortable winners when Keira Booty finished off a fine period of Magpies pressure with a well constructed goal.
